Sixth Annual Administaff Kenny Houston
Hall of Fame Golf Classic Announced Commitments received from many returning and new players
HOUSTON, TX – July 1, 2002 – The Administaff Kenny
Houston Hall of Fame Golf Classic, a non-profit event benefiting
the Southern Texas PGA Foundation, today announced this year’s
event is scheduled to take place Oct. 4–5, 2002, at Kingwood
Country Club’s Forest Course. The golf tournament, in its
sixth year, helps support higher education for Houston-area students
through the funding of four scholarships for the 2003-2004 academic
year.
Commitments to participate in this year’s tournament
have been received from many returning players such as Bobby
Bell, Leroy Kelly, Dan Pastorini, Larry Dierker, Ted Hendricks,
Don Maynard, Mel Renfro, Hal Greer and more. The field continues
to grow with additional commitments from individuals playing
in the tournament for the first time including Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson,
Robert Brazile, L.C. Greenwood and Alvin Reed.
“ We are thrilled to hear from so many returning players
and also broaden the playing field with new faces,” said
Rob Lynch, tournament co-chairman. “This will be another
exciting year in the continued effort to help support higher
education through the funding of the Southern Texas PGA Foundation.”
The
Sixth Annual Administaff Kenny Houston Hall of Fame Golf
Classic will feature two rounds of golf. On Oct. 4,
teams of three amateurs will partner with an NFL Hall of
Fame member to compete in a scramble format with prize money
at stake for the Hall of Fame players. A PGA golf professional
also will accompany each team, and will play for a separate
cash purse. The Oct. 5 round will feature teams of three
amateurs with an NFL Hall of Fame member or local sports
celebrity in a scramble format with prizes awarded in various
categories.
A silent auction, barbeque and live entertainment
provided by Doug Supernaw will take place following play
on Friday,
Oct. 4, at Kingwood Country Club.
