Sixth Annual Administaff Kenny Houston Hall of Fame Golf Classic Announced
Commitments received from many returning and new players

HOUSTON, TX – July 1, 2002 – The Administaff Kenny Houston Hall of Fame Golf Classic, a non-profit event benefiting the Southern Texas PGA Foundation, today announced this year’s event is scheduled to take place Oct. 4–5, 2002, at Kingwood Country Club’s Forest Course. The golf tournament, in its sixth year, helps support higher education for Houston-area students through the funding of four scholarships for the 2003-2004 academic year.

Commitments to participate in this year’s tournament have been received from many returning players such as Bobby Bell, Leroy Kelly, Dan Pastorini, Larry Dierker, Ted Hendricks, Don Maynard, Mel Renfro, Hal Greer and more. The field continues to grow with additional commitments from individuals playing in the tournament for the first time including Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson, Robert Brazile, L.C. Greenwood and Alvin Reed.

“ We are thrilled to hear from so many returning players and also broaden the playing field with new faces,” said Rob Lynch, tournament co-chairman. “This will be another exciting year in the continued effort to help support higher education through the funding of the Southern Texas PGA Foundation.”

The Sixth Annual Administaff Kenny Houston Hall of Fame Golf Classic will feature two rounds of golf. On Oct. 4, teams of three amateurs will partner with an NFL Hall of Fame member to compete in a scramble format with prize money at stake for the Hall of Fame players. A PGA golf professional also will accompany each team, and will play for a separate cash purse. The Oct. 5 round will feature teams of three amateurs with an NFL Hall of Fame member or local sports celebrity in a scramble format with prizes awarded in various categories.

A silent auction, barbeque and live entertainment provided by Doug Supernaw will take place following play on Friday, Oct. 4, at Kingwood Country Club.

“ We are very pleased to continue our sponsorship of such a prestigious and worthwhile community effort,” said Jay Mincks, executive vice president of sales and marketing with Administaff. “We are honored to be associated with Kenny Houston and all the other people involved with this tournament, and we appreciate their ongoing support of organizations like the Southern Texas PGA Foundation.”
