HOUSTON – March 16, 2004 – Administaff (NYSE: ASF),
title sponsor of the Administaff Hall of Fame Golf Classic, today
announced that NFL Hall of Famers Eric Dickerson and Elvin Bethea
will join fellow NFL Hall of Famer Kenny Houston as hosts for
this year’s tournament.
The tournament, formerly known as
the Administaff Kenny Houston Hall of Fame Golf Classic, is in
its eighth year
and is one of the longest-running nonprofit celebrity
golfing events in the country. The tournament’s momentum continues
to grow with the addition of Eric Dickerson and Elvin Bethea.
A
two-time All-American choice at Southern Methodist University,
Eric Dickerson was selected in the first round of the 1983
NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. He went on to play for
the Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Raiders and Atlanta Falcons.
Dickerson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame
in 1999.
A 2003 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Elvin
Bethea was the Houston Oilers third-round pick in the 1968
AFL/NFL
draft. Bethea spent his 15-year career playing the defensive
end position for the Oilers.
Kenny Houston entered the Pro
Football Hall of Fame in 1986. His professional career began
when he was a ninth-round
Houston
Oilers draftee in 1967. He played for the Oilers through
the 1972 season, and was traded to the Washington Redskins
in 1973. Houston retired from the NFL in 1980.
“ This tournament just keeps getting bigger and better
every year,” said Rob Lynch, tournament co-chairman. “Kenny
and I are thrilled to have Eric and Elvin become a part of
this worthwhile event.”
During the past seven years
the golf tournament has raised tens of thousands of dollars
designated for a particular
charity. Texas Children’s Cancer Center’s “Arts
in Medicine” program will again this year benefit
from the proceeds raised. The Arts in Medicine program
provides therapeutic, educational and meaningful opportunities
for patients and their families, including art education,
hands-on art activities, guest and performing artist series
and outreach on a local, regional and national basis.
The Administaff
Hall of Fame Golf Classic will be held on Sept. 30 and
Oct. 1 at Oakhurst Golf Club at Kingwood (formerly
Bentwood Country Club). If you are interested in becoming
a sponsor or golfing with Hall of Famers and other celebrities,
